Complete the on-line application form and pay the £100 application fee. |

Get the childcare & character references completed and returned to FrenchAuPairs.com. |

Get the Statement of Health Form completed by your doctor and returned to FrenchAuPairs.com. |

Upload a passport photo, a full-length photo and complete your photo essay (all on-line at FrenchAuPairs.com). |

5. |
Send the following to us at FrenchAuPairs.com:
• Original Criminal Background report
• Copy of passport (showing personal details & expiry date);
• Copy of driver's license
• Copy of High School diploma or proof of completion
• The signed Au Pair Pledge

Once above steps completed, FrenchAuPairs.com will administer the SLEP test and conduct an interview in English. |

7. |
FrenchAuPairs.com conducts the Psychometric Evaluation. |
|
8. |
Your completed application pack will be sent to the Au Pair Foundation for assessment and approval. |

9. |
Once approved, your details are shared with appropriate families. |
|
10. |
Once a match is found, you will have a telephone interview with the family at least twice to ensure you are both comfortable with each other. |

11. |
You will be notified of the family's interest in hiring you. If you accept the match, you pay FrenchAuPairs.com the Au Pair Foundation refundable £400.00 security deposit.
• You submit the Host Family Interview Helper
• You receive the complete host family application, DS-2019 form, insurance information, training itinerary, community profile and au pair manual.
• You complete the Pre-Departure Project

12. |
You schedule an interview with your nearest US Embassy
• Once the DS-2019 form arrives, you schedule an interview with the nearest US Embassy for a J-1 non-immigrant visa
• A $100.00 interview fee is required at the time of interview along with embassy documents and the DS-2019 form.
• The US Embassy decides whether the J-1 visa or not. Depending on the Embassy, you are notified either immediately or up to three weeks later of the Embassy's decision.
• If the visa is denied, the £400.00 Security Deposit is refunded to you.

The visa is approved - time for departure and training!
• If the visa is approved, you will fly to San Francisco, California to participate in an intensive 32-hour training about infant/child safety, development and American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification. Transportation from the airport is provided. You will be lodged in San Francisco at the Ansonia Abby Hotel. Training takes place in San Francisco and at the Au Pair Foundation headquarters in San Rafael, California. Lodging and most meals are provided during this time. You will need about $150.00 in spending money to cover misc. food, entertainment and transportation expenses.

You meet the family
• Once the training is complete, transportation to the new host family home is provided and an exciting year begins!! Local Community Representatives will assist you all year.
