Au Pair USA US Department of State designated program
A few pointers for when you arrive in the US:
Training Your first few days in the program will be busy and full of activity learning about child development and how to care for children safely in the “Au Pair Workshop”. During the workshop you will have the opportunity to make friends and meet other Au Pairs with whom you may maintain a friendship throughout your program year. Your New Family After completing the training and orientation you should be ready for introduction to your new home! Keep in mind that every host family is different and do not fall into the trap of comparing your situation with the other Au Pairs you meet during the orientation.
Your Au Pair Foundation Account In your arrival packet you will receive information regarding your email and password. This account is very important and will be the means by which you receive program updates, announcements, evaluations, and special instructions. You should check your mail at least once a week to answer all questionnaires that are distributed via your account. Responsibilities Your host family has invested a significant amount of money in the program and has high expectations for you to provide reliable and safe childcare for their children. Your duties may include being available to a sleeping child, driving children to sporting activities or helping with homework.
